Cyberbullying, online harassment, and online hate speech are rapidly rising issues across Africa, significantly impacting adolescents and teenagers. Popular platforms like TikTok, WhatsApp, and Facebook have unintentionally become hotspots for harmful behaviors, placing younger children at increased risk as they join digital spaces despite age restrictions.
As part of our “Hold Before You Send It” campaign, Digihub Africa is pleased to invite civil society organizations, grassroots groups, digital rights advocates, educators, and youth-focused initiatives to participate in the 2025 Conference on Online Safety with a Focus on Teenagers, taking place from October 8 to 9, 2025, in Johannesburg and online.

This two-day hybrid event will bring together changemakers from across the African continent to examine the growing risks young people face in the digital space. It will also serve as a platform to co-create community-centered solutions that prioritize safety, inclusion, and respect in our online environments.
